What’s included in a generator service?
Our team can guide you towards the correct service package, typically we offer two types of service, minor generator service and major generator overhaul service.
However, no matter what service package you require, during our routine visit, we will carry out the following checks:
• Check all drive belts for wear and tension
• Check batteries, electrolyte level, cables and terminals
• Check battery charging system
• Check earth stud, load cables and terminal safety covers
• Check operation of all safety shutdowns
• Check panel meters and switches
• Check condition and operation of engine heaters
• Check and lubricate governor and fuel solenoid linkages
• Check condition and security all safety guards
• Run generator and monitor performance
• Repair any minor fuel, oil, coolant and exhaust leaks
• Record all pressures, temperatures and load readings
• Clean down and remove all waste from site
As well as our trained engineers, the parts used during the service are genuine parts direct from the engine manufacturer, whether that be Perkins, Cummins, Iveco, Volvo, Ricardo or Sedec. The oil and coolant are supplied as per the manufacturer’s recommendations, ensuring your generator is serviced to its optimum performance, and therefore will increase the longevity of use of your generator by not using aftermarket, non-genuine parts.
Generator Installation
Utilizing our sister company Melan Electro Mechanical Solution PLC, we are one of the very selected few companies in Ethiopia who import CKD products, assemble and install generators, offering our clients full package services.
Using Melan as your generator installer, ensures your equipment warranty is validated. Whether your generator is used for domestic, industrial or commercial purposes, ensuring your equipment is installed correctly to avoid potential harm and or downtime, which is why we only use fully trained chief mechanical and electrical engineers. Our in-house admin team will provide RAMS and method statements prior to arriving on site.
Our business development team are accompanied by one of our qualified engineers when providing a site survey, ensuring we pick up all aspects of the installation and service required.
PROFFESIONAL GENERATOR INSTALLATION
GENERATOR DELIVERIES- We work with Ethiopia’s major logistics and Inland transport haulage companies with cross border permits from the local Ethiopian transport Ministry, who can help and assist us with the trickiest of deliveries and equipment positioning. All of the freight transport associations we use are fully vetted and insured.
GENERATOR POSITIONING- As part of our generator installation service, we can position the power equipment into place. We have tackled some of the trickiest generator installs over the years, including dismantling a generator at site, and re assembling it in the building’s basement under rough patches and conditions.
GENERATOR MOUNTING – Installing a generator on a flat level service is important, a concrete plinth is always the preferred option for positioning a generator onto, but not essential. The surface should be level, with suitable anchor points for the generator.
GENERATOR VENTILIATION – Every generator engine is different; some require more ventilation to aid cooling than others. Our expert engineers can advise the correct power generator during the pre-sales process. Not only will we ensure there is enough space to service and maintain the generator properly, but also ensure its able to be operated correctly.
GENERATOR FUEL SERVICES – As part of our generator services, we can ensure the generator is filled up with its first fill of fuel. Some engines require special additives and or HVO fuel, we will ensure this is taken into consideration.
GENERATOR COMMISIONING – Our team will quote for our professional commissioning service, where we check all the parameters of the installation and certify the product is suitable for operation.
